The City Center Motel in Long Beach, California, has undergone renovation and been transformed into a boutique version of its former midcentury self. During the period it stood vacant, the iconic signage suffered damage, leaving behind a compelling example of urban decay—like the ‘L’ barely hanging on, its worn state giving it a “gone to hell” vibe. Thankfully, the elegant building itself was spared from demolition and will live on.
